Tyre fittings

Postby c-m on Tue Feb 09, 2010 5:40 pm

Anyone know a cheap place I can get some tyres fitted?

Just ride in ride out.. I don't have a paddock stand or garage so can't really take the wheels off.

I've used Dave Barkshire and Tinklers in the past but they don't seem to like doing fittings unless you buy the tyres from them too.

Basically I need to find a part worn 180/55 17 size tyre to pass my MOT next month.

Most places will do the job if you have the tyre and charge anywhere between £10 and £30 for removal balancing and refitting. works out soo much cheaper if you can take the wheel off. I know c & a at totenhill mechanics will do the job for about £20 but ask first

HMT on Vulcan Rd in Norwich do it.
Found them the cheapest about for tyres to, MUCH cheaper than Balls/Tinklers ect
Depending on make, around £190 fitted for front & rear for Pirelli Diablo/Bridgestone BT's, and thats a ride in/ride out price

Just called up, Darren sound like a really nice bloke.

As he lives in Norwich he even offered to pick up my bike and drop it off after work tomorrow for no extra cost.

Will definitely be using them at some point. Got no 120s in at the moment though :-(

Obviously they are track focus tyres and part worn but how much life are we talking about. He said i would most likely get an advisory on the MOT?

Had my rear fitted. Got a Pirrelli Dragon Supercorsa SC1

The tyre felt really good and has a nice profile on it. There's about 4mm of tread in the centre.

The guys at the store we're great, really friendly and helpful. Will certainly use again.
