Forum clean up.

Postby Paul on Thu May 07, 2009 3:51 pm

Forums clean again :D

Just spent the last couple of hours deleting around 600 bots that had managed to sign up within the last month!

need to change the coding me thinks, but damn bots are becoming smarter and smarter.

Its bascially compaines that set up programmes that infiltrate internet forums, and just spam websites with internet links / porn / viruses etc
They just keep signing up over and over again using different usernames and e-mail addresses. Some from UK and others from all over the world.

I've heard of forums having to close down due to being over run by spam and crap that these bots create.
It also messes up the members lists and can take peoples information such as e-mail addresses and then spam them. (doesn't happen often though)

But not to fear. Me and Gaz are working at it, and hopefully the forum will stay bot free without having to manually keep deleting them as they shouldn't be able to sign up.

Bad porn where you have to pay and you get sent spam.
If it were good free porn i wouldn't be so bothered ;)
